It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
Jeremiah wrote these words while sitting among the ruins of Jerusalem. Everything familiar had been lost — and yet he found reason to hope. God’s mercy did not run out with yesterday’s troubles; it was waiting for him again at sunrise.
Whatever yesterday held, today you receive a fresh supply of God’s compassion. You do not need to carry yesterday’s failures into today.
Prayer
Faithful Father, thank You that Your mercies are new this morning. Help me to leave yesterday in Your hands and to walk in Your grace today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
